Applying to Civitas
There are lots of reasons to send your student to The Baltimore Civitas School: we will have a focused vision, strong teachers, and lots of support for students. Keep in mind, however, that the school's theme of engaged citizenry will be embedded in almost everything the students do. Discuss with your child the idea of being active in their communities. If the idea is exciting to them, then Civitas is a good choice.
Parent/guardians interested in applying to The Baltimore Civitas School for their student for school year 2008-09 need to do two things:
The first is to contact us directly--Matt Wernsdorfer/Tracy Clements at 410-516-0285 or email: wernsdorfer@baltimorecivitas.org . Give us your name, address, and phone number. This way we will know of your intentions, have you on our contact list, and can follow up if there are any questions.
The second is to apply directly to BCPSS by completing their application. You can download the application from our website. You may also contact the Area Office of New and Charter Schools at 410-396-8550 for support in this process. Please get this in before May 13th!
The acceptance of students will have two phases. The first is on May 13th, where BCPSS will hold a lottery for us if we have more applicants than we have slots. If we have fewer applcants than slots, all applications will be accepted. The second phase is rolling admission for any slots remaining after May 13th. IF there are still slots available, they will be on a first come, first serve basis.
