For prospective students:
Civitas is a school where you learn as you get engaged with the community. If you want to learn to use your voice to become part of the solution, Civitas is the right place for you. We offer:
- A safe, small and caring community where every student is known and welcome
- High quality educational experiences
- Engaging classrooms where students learn by asking questions
- A chance to be a part of creating a culture of commitment, excellence and public service.
- A wide range of daily and Wednesday electives – African drumming, Yoga, Art on Purpose, Urban Debate, Project Citizen, Media Literacy, Tai Chi and Spoken Word Poetry to name a few.
What will you need to be a part of the Civitas community?
- A commitment to engaging in public service – do you like to help younger kids learn to read? Help plan a community garden? Paint a community mural? Argue with people (and win for a change)? Identify issues and help fix them? Then you are ready for Civitas!
- A willingness to reflect on how things happen now and how we might make things happen tomorrow.
- A desire to be heard – Civitas is a place where everyone’s voice is important. We have lots of places where you can share how you feel about the school and how we do things. Morning meeting, class representatives’, Wednesday electives – where do you see your leadership taking you?
- A dedication to learning
